Cozy Up With Some Good Books

I really wanted to sit down and read a book the other day. I really just wanted to sit down and read a fiction book, but I didn't have any here to read. So, I picked up the top book on my non fiction pile to start reading. Couldn't have been a more appropriate book to read at the time.

In one of the first chapters of The Set-Apart Woman: God's Invitation to Sacred Living, Leslie talks about making the things of God our first priority. Not going to the tv, or my guilty one- facebook, to fill out time. She said when she spends her free time focusing on God, her life is far more fulfilling.

I was really challenged by that discipline and have been trying to read a chapter in a non fiction book each day before picking up a fiction book.

Leslie's challenges were very convicting and she wove Scripture throughout the book. I was definitely blessed by having the chance to review this book.

Thanks to Tyndale House for allowing me to review The Set-Apart Woman: God's Invitation to Sacred Living in exchange for an honest review.

The Amazing Make-Ahead Baby Food Book is a book that I ordered not thinking that it would prove to be that valuable. Boy, was I wrong!

Thankfully, with Esther, my mom made most of her purees last summer. I did make carrots and I remember cooking them forever. There is a chart in this book that says exactly how long you need to steam your fruits and veggies before pureeing them. How handy would that have been when I kept bugging my mom that my carrots were still too hard!

Esther is now eating mostly finger foods, but there is a section in this book about those as well. Creamy Fruit Roll Ups look really good to me!

I love all the variety of recipes that are in this book.

Because I haven't had any fiction books to review, I decided to get Remnants: Season of Fire Remnants: Season of Fire and give it a read.

This book kinda had a sci-fi twist to it.Took me a while to get into it because I hadn't read the first book in the series.

There is a battle of good and evil. Interesting book, but not one that I am gushing over.

Thanks to Book Look Bloggers for a copy of Remnants: Season of Fire Remnants: Season of Fire.

  2. I had that same feeling this week that I just felt like sitting down and reading a fiction book. I don't do that very often but sometimes it just sounds really fun.

    1. Sometimes I read during Esther's nap as my way to relax. Some days I need that! Hope you were able to fit in some time for a good book, Abbi.
