Neighborly Love

Just about 2 weeks ago, we moved. I really wanted to meet our neighbors. My husband and I decided that we could take cookies to them and give us a chance to meet them.

I made up a double batch of chocolate chip cookies and plated them up. Of course, I had to eat some as well. Oh, how I love a good gooey chocolate chip cookie.

The day I made them, it didn't work to take the cookies to our neighbors. The next day, my husband looked at me and asked if I was ready to take the cookies to our neighbors. I lost all resolve. I could just eat them :) Good thing I have a husband that pushes me out the door to do things that make me feel uncomfortable.

First, we went over to what we figured would be our easier neighbors to meet. We had already met the husband, and that night we got to meet the wife and one of the daughters. Super sweet people.

The next night, she brought us zucchini bread. Super moist and yummy! I went to take the plate back to her today with a thank you and wanted to make sure I spelled her name right. I facebook stalked her and this is what I saw. Made my day.

Of course, we had facebook stalked them before we met them. From our conversation with the wife, we are pretty sure that they facebook stalked us as well. I mentioned that we had facebook stalked them at a family get together the other night and they all looked at me like I was crazy. Oh well! Have you ever facebook stalked your neighbor?

We bucked up and took cookies to our other neighbor. It was nice to meet the wife on that side. Not so nice to find out that they have coons living in their attic and groundhogs in their basement. Oh my.

Have you set out to be an encouragement to someone else recently and in turn been encouraged?

  1. Since my BFF lives next door, I'm sorry to say I didn't venture out to meet more people in our neighborhood. We trade good all the time anyways...but now that I take walks with Hudson, I've been able to meet a few more of the people that love around us. Everyone loves to talk to the baby. Ha

    1. That is one perk to having your BFF friend next door! Isn't it funny how people will take the time to visit a baby!

  2. What a wonderful gesture! I remember when we moved to our old home in OH a few neighbors came to us with cookies and a pie to welcome us to the neighborhood. I felt like I was transported back to the 1950s or something!

    1. Must be something about Ohio! Go Ohio :) My mom has always been very good about treating her neighbors super well. Might be from the 1950s, but I think it still means a lot!

  3. That is so cool! I wish I had found the time to do that when we moved. Good for your Husband for pushing you out the door.

    1. Yes, it is one of those things that is easier to do when you first move in. I am glad he pushed me out the door as well!

  4. Very neat! I don't think I have ever facebook "stalked" a neighbor but I have checked out other people that way. :-) I try to take cookies or something like that to new neighbors but though we have some very sweet neighbors that doesn't seem to be what anybody else does around here.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Abbi! I am kinda surprised that people are so foreign to the idea of taking cookies. Sometimes we live next door to people without ever really talking to them. Crazy!

  5. Thank you for sharing your amazing story at "Tell Me a Story," about visiting your new neighbors. The second neighbor has an interesting hobby raising coons and groundhogs. :-)
Taking cookies to a neighbor is a great idea.

    1. Not sure it is their hobby, more so their laziness :)
