Motivation to Run...

I have this goal in life, that to some would seem small. I want to run an entire 5k. I "ran" a 5k in college, but did not manage to run the entire thing. Of course, I did run over the finish line :)

My husband and I have been talking some about our need to exercise.I finally ran some yesterday, so I feel like I can post this now. I was on the homepage of pinterest the other day, and my sister in law had pinned this picture. Underneath the picture said "Put $1 in a jar every time you complete a workout. When you reach a certain goal, say $100, treat yourself to a massage or a new pair of jeans. Great motivation!"

I immediately texted my husband about the idea. He liked and and we had to think of something to do with the money that we save. He suggested a day trip to Put in Bay since he has free tickets to the ferry to the island. My mind starts working and says that we wouldn't have a lot to pay for then once we got there. Food and any other attractions that we wanted to do. That would not help with my motivation! So, we decided to give a little motivation, we could work for a night up there. Now that sounds a little more appealing to me!

Now to get out and do something! That is the true challenge. Planning is only as good as what is put into action. Someone has had to have a cool quote along those lines. Anybody know any?

  1. I found $1.60 on the road yesterday while jogging...It can be financially rewarding to run. And for a quote...I feel like Ardy would say something like "A good start doesn't guarantee a good finish. You have to follow through."

  2. I don't know if you are using a program that you like, but I highly reccomend Couch to 5k. I've run two 5Ks after completing this, and I assure you I am not an athlete. (I also lost 15 lbs, which was a nice little bonus!). :) My mom started with that program, and she's now worked up to two half marathons. There are several free podcasts or Apple aps that will cue you when to switch from running to walking.

I love the money idea. That might be just what I need to keep motivated.
