Book Review: Against the Tide by Camden

When I started reading this book, I was immediately struck with the fact that the main character's name was Lydia and that her brother's name was Michael. In this case, the brother was younger.

There is an underlying fight against drugs throughout this entire book. I couldn't help but think how much this related to problems that we have in current day

Lydia had grown up in an orphanage who had given her medicine to help her calm down. Little did she know that this medicine contained opium. She continued to take this medicine into adulthood without understanding the consequences.

Lydia met and fell in love with a man, Bane. The only problem is that Bane had given his everything to fight against the opium trade. Bane would not allow himself to marry a drug addict, and he would also not put Lydia in the midst of his dangerous lifestyle. They both admitted that opium was wrong, but one of them was addicted.

Loss of job, kidnapping, Lydia attempting to save a child's life, and many more adventures keep you wanting more. Never a dull moment!

Good eventually wins and God is glorified, What other way is there to end any book?

Thank you to Bethany House for allowing me to read and review this book. You can buy Against The Tide on amazon.

    1. I really liked that it didn't follow a plot like a book I had ever read before!
