Tips for Hanging Out Your Laundry: Picking a Clothespin Bag

I have been working on a series of tips for hanging out your laundry. You can click back for basic tips and tips on picking clothespins. Today, I want to focus on picking a clothespin bag.

The debate is out there to leave clothespins on the line of to take them off. Personally, I bring my clothespins in every time. Maybe it is the look of a clean clothesline, or it is because I don't want to buy clothespins every year, but more likely it is because my mom brought in her clothespins.

Growing up, my mom always just sewed a bag that she put on the ground. Always worked great.

When I got clothespins from my grandma, I inherited a vintage bag similar to this clothespin bag.

I love that I can hang it on the clothesline. Although, I would probably get better exercise bending over to get clothespins.

One of these days, my bag will probably fall apart. I think there is a limit on how many years the bag will last. When that happens I will look into buying one of these clothespin bags or I will try to make one like one of these below. The links under the picture will take you to the tutorial of how to make the bag.

Or start searching pinterest, there are lots of good ideas floating around out there.

Do you bring in your clothespins or leave them on the line?

Tips for Hanging Out Laundry on Your Clothesline

Something inside of me finds it therapeutic to hang out my laundry. Anyone else there with me? Today, I want to share with you some tips to hanging out your laundry on the clothesline.

I know, I get this from my momma. It is not uncommon for me to get a text from my mom saying, I hope my laundry dries well today. Usually, I text her back and say that I hope mine does as well.

Saving money, using the fresh air that God has provided, being outside...can you beat that with a little metal box?

Last year, my SIL got this clothes line at a garage sale for $1. She didn't want it, so she sold it to me. I love that $1 purchase.

Here are a few tips that will help you hang out your laundry.
  • Hang the heaviest items on the outside so that they dry faster.
  • Hang shirts from the bottom so under the arms dry well.
  • Hang things you don't want your neighbors to see on the inside.
  • Spread out your laundry so that it dries better.
  • Hang your socks together so that taking them down is easier.
  • Enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.
I asked my husband for more tips. His tip was, to do what your wife says. Oh my! Do you have any more tips to share?

You can read about my preferences when if comes to picking clothespins.

I also shared some ideas about buying or making clothespin bags.

I would love to hear input on clotheslines. I don't have any experience except on the umbrella clothesline.
