Giveaway: 7 Voskos Coupons

I got all excited to get 7 coupons for free yogurt in the mail...until I got to the store and realized that the yogurt is not sold in my area. Bummer!

Then I got home a few days later, to discover that my husband got the same coupons in the mail. So, 14 total free things of yogurt that I would have to drive over 100 miles to get. Not quite worth my gas money :)

I looked around and saw that the yogurt is available in the Tennessee area. I want these coupons to be used, so my friend Cindy decided to join up with me for a giveaway. You can check out where all this yogurt is offered on the Voskos website.

On my blog, I will be giving away 7 of the coupons, and she will be giving away the other 7 on her blog. The coupons are good for one free Voskos + crunch and are good until 7/31/12.

How to enter to win these coupons:

Head over to Cindy's Blog So the Cook Said, look around, and come back and comment about what your favorite blog post is.

For a second entry, go on over to So the Cook Said and become a follower of their blog. (Scroll all the way to the bottom to do this.) Come back over here and comment that you’ve done so.

For a third entry, become a follower of Not Afraid of the Snow, either via email subscription or by Google Friend Connect, and leave a comment here saying that you've done so.

Winner will be chosen at random on Friday, May 4th at 8pm.
(Limited to those with a US mailing address)

Proverbs 31: A Rare Tresure

I am completely in love with the book Beautiful in God’s Eyes by Elizabeth George. I have read it several times and wanted to read it again to get a new perspective as a married woman. I plan on posting once a week on Wednesdays...hence why the first one in on Thursday...about the things that are presented in the book. I would love to hear feedback from you as I journey through this book again.
“Who can find a virtuous woman?” Proverbs 31:10a
Pinned Image

Elizabeth starts by talking about how this feat of becoming virtuous can feel overwhelming. A task we might not want to start because we find it daunting. God desires us to be virtuous, so we need to start on the task.

I am encouraged to know that this ideal of what a woman should be like came from a woman. A man did not dream up what they wanted and then forced all the women to achieve the status. A woman was telling her son what he needed to look for and to find in a wife. Even though this standard was high, the mother fully expected her son to find someone who lived up to these characteristics.

Virtuous. We are to strive to achieve virtue, but what does that mean? Elizabeth says that virtue contains a power of mind (moral principles and attitudes) and also a power of body (potency and effectiveness).

At the end of each chapter, Elizabeth gives us the how-to’s of beauty. For this chapter they are the following:
#1 cultivate the desire
#2 give it time.

This summary is just the bare bones of the chapter. I highly encourage all women to get this book and read the book.

I am curious what the first thing that comes to mind is when you think of a virtuous woman?

My Husband Discovers The Joys of Free!

This picture made me a wee little jealous when my husband sent it to me and told me that he got it for free.

I am very thankful that my husband has gotten excited about the things that you can get for free. Before we got married, the coupons just hung on his refrigerator. Never to leave again! He is starting to learn the benefit of them, especially things like free subs :)
Now if I could have gotten a free sub...bummer!

Wonder how we got all of this for $1.49?

First, I have signed up for Meijer mperks. They sent me a text the other day saying that I could get $5 off any $5 purchase. How great is that!

The second thing is that, I also had a coupon for the lettuce from Earthbound Farms.

My Great God!

Pinned Image

Solomon was working on building the temple which the Israelites would use to worship God. He said the following verse about God.

2 Chronicles 6:18
"But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!"

How thankful am I that I serve a God that man cannot contain. Man also cannot describe the God that I serve. My God truly is great!

Printable Coupons from Earthbound Farms

I have heard many times, that I don't coupon because I don't eat the food that coupons are for. They are all for processed foods.

Here is a coupon to prove all those people wrong! Sign up for Earthbound Farm and they will email you coupons throughout the year for $50 worth of savings.

My favorite part is that, instantly, you can print a $.75 off any Earthbound product coupon. They let me print this coupon twice. I will take mine to Kroger so that it will double.

Pretty sweet savings in my book!

Thanks, MoneySavingMom!

Move in Grace

Pinned Image
image from here

Back in my college days, I did a Bible study with a few girls. We went through the book Lord, Give Me a Heart for You by Kay Arthur. There was a paragraph in that book that was a strong conviction to me. It is amazing to me how things resurface themselves, as I have found myself thinking about this paragraph a lot recently.

Kay wrote, "A heart that belongs to God always moves in grace, in graciousness, and in favor toward others....Keep your conscience clear and move in grace. You are God's representative, and He is the God of all grace."

I am always thankful for the grace that God has showed to me. I do not deserve heaven, but that is what He has given to me.
I am suppose to be an imitator of Christ.
God shows me grace. I am to imitate Him. I need to show others grace.
I should not just be doing for others what they deserve. What makes me better than them? If Jesus had thought that He was better than me and did not show me grace, where would I be?

What is a practical way that you can move in grace to those that are around you?

DIY: Hemp and Pearl Necklace

For my wedding, I was on the search for jewelry for my girls. My sister-in-law is allergic to some metals, so my job became a little more interesting.

I found a necklace at the jewelry store I liked for $200...ya, didn't want to go for that! My friend Cindy got us a necklace, earrings, and bracelet for her wedding for $1. I was determined to find something I liked for not too much and that my sister-in-law could wear again if she ever chose.

The same friend, sent me a bracelet in the mail, and this bracelet became my inspiration for the necklaces that I made.

I have to admit that I was a little unsure about whether the girls would like them. How often do we wear jewelry from a wedding for that day and then only wear them a few more times? So, I decided to go with what I wanted.

Here are the girls in their necklaces at our wedding.

I bought this hemp at Walmart. I started out with some jute that was three strands in one. It unraveled way too much. This hemp worked great!

I also got some brown ribbon, fishing line, pearls, and a button.

I started out by making a loop big enough to fit over the button, but tight enough that it just slipped over the button.

I then strung the pearls on the fishing line. The holes were too small in the pearls to use either the jute or ribbon, so the fishing line became my alternative.

I then tied a not a few inches down that connected all three things strands.

I repeated the pearls and knots until I got to the desired length. I tried to make all the sections the same size.

I tied one last knot on the end, then slid on the button and tied a few knots to hold the button in place.

I then put some clear fingernail polish on the knots to help hold them in place.

Here is the finished product!

I really like how they turned out and pulled in all the elements for my wedding. I also liked that it wasn't just like everyone else had. It was my own. There is just something about that!

If you don't want to take the time to make one of these yourself, I have two for sale here and here.

Medical Missions: A Chance to Give!

My husband and I were both introduced to this ministry when our friend Sarah went on a trip with them. They provide medical services to those who are without.

Shortly after we got married, Scott suggested saving up some free stuff that we get with couponing to give to this ministry. I was totally on board with the idea! He has a box with the beginning of our collection in our upstairs.

Below is a list of items that they would like to have on all their trips. If you live in the area and have any of these things that you would like to donate, then we can add them to our supply to be delivered one of these days. So, give it a look over and see what you might be able to do!

    DIY: Burlap Earring Holder

I had been looking around on pinterest for different earring holders, and I found the perfect plan with supplies that I had on hand.

Good way to organize your earrings. Personalize it by monogram - M!
    • I took the glass out of a picture frame- these were the pew decorations for our wedding. I had originally gotten them at dollar tree for $1.
    • I cut my burlap to be slightly larger than the back of the picture frames. This can be easily picked up at a fabric store. Or if you live near a coffee shop that sells coffee bags. You can also buy burlap on amazon by the yard.
    • I spray painted on an "m" on the burlap using a stencil I made out of paper. Read about how to make a stencil here.
    • I wrapped the burlap around the back of the picture frame and hot glued around the edges. My husband got me a hot glue gun for my birthday!
    • I reassembled the frame and it was ready to go.
Easy enough! And now my earrings are neatly displayed...and I can find a matched pair. Always a plus!

If you don't want to take the time to make your own earring holder, I have some available in my etsy shop.
Now, I want a little candelabra to spray paint and hang my necklaces on...

May His Face Shine upon You

    Pinned Image
    image from here

I was reading through this Psalm this morning, and was encouraged by the fact that God's face will shine upon us.

He is a righteuos judge who will bless those who deserve to be blessed. We need to raise up and bless Him.

I am thankful that I know what happens in this country it because of God's hand on this country. I need to be asking for God to shine His face on my life and live my individual life the way that I should.

    Psalm 67

1God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.
2That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.
3Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
4O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.
5Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
6Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.
7God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.
